FRENCH CONNECTION
Seven French expatriates who now call Australia home talk about love,
life and what it means to be French.
QUAINT AND QUIRKY
This classic villa on the outskirts of the city indulges the owners’
desire to still be in the hub of the action while catering for their growing
family. It’s a clever juxtaposition of old and new that makes this
home quirky-cool.
ALTITUDE ATTITUDE
The $900 million Precinct is an inner-city development on the old Balfours
site that will appeal to residents wanting to engage with their neighbours
rather than block them out. Altitude, the first of five planned towers,
certainly makes a statement.
INTERVIEWER INTERVIEWED
One Adelaide-produced ABC TV show has come a long way from when it was
filmed in the lounge room of the crew’s rented house. Today, it
has its own set in the studio at Collinswood, the broadcaster’s
biggest production facility outside Sydney. Interviewer Peter Meredith
turns the tables on the “face” of Talking Heads.
WINNING WAYS WITH FRESH FOOD
Thanks to thriving markets and the humble vegie patch’s return to
popularity, home chefs can take advantage of the freshest ingredients
for their favourite recipes. SALife announces three winners of the Adelaide
Botanic Gardens Foundation Recipes from My Garden competition, and they
share their recipes.
Whoever ART THOU ROMEO?
Romeo and Juliet is one of the world’s favourite plays. But never
in its 415 years has Juliet’s plaintive inquiry from her balcony
sailed so close to home. That’s because in State Theatre Company’s
new production, the 22 characters
will be played by only six actors.
TIME TRAVEL
One of the world’s greatest train journeys is celebrating 40 years
of service. SALife jumps on board from the Indian to the Pacific.
CHIRO FOR CRITTERS
“If we could talk to the animals, just imagine it, chatting to a
chimp in chimpanzee …” That Oscar-winning song from the movie
Doctor Dolittle might pose an intriguing challenge for chiropractor Christopher
Hume-Phillips because, while he has never treated a chimp before, he’s
confident he could.
